Police reports indicate that Chedure Sanders, a Cleveland Browns rookie, was cited for speeding early Tuesday morning. According to the records, the 23-year-old quarterback’s vehicle was recorded going 101 mph.
The Strongsville Police Department halted traffic just after midnight. Sanders was reportedly driving a Dodge TRX truck on Interstate 71, heading northbound when he was stopped in a 60 mph zone.
Interestingly, Sanders faces a couple of options: he can either pay a fine associated with a fourth-degree misdemeanor, or he can challenge the ticket in court, which is set for early July.
This incident comes on the heels of the 2025 NFL Draft, which surprised many, particularly with Sanders’ unexpected drop down the draft board. A lot of people thought he might go in the first round, but he was still waiting to hear his name called by the fifth round.
After being selected by the Browns, Sanders took to social media to express his gratitude with a heartfelt message: “Thank you God.” The quarterback, who is the son of Pro Football Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, is among several players vying for the starting position.
Joe Flacco, with the most experience, and Kenny Pickett, who has also started games in the NFL, are in the competition as well. Both Dillon Gabriel and Sanders joined the Browns through the 2025 draft. Meanwhile, Deshaun Watson has declared his intent to return stronger after dealing with an Achilles issue, although it’s uncertain if he will take any snaps this year.
As training progresses, Sanders has been placed on the second team to start the Browns’ mandatory minicamp.
