Pro Football Hall of Famer Troy Aikman is taking some time off before jumping back into the broadcast booth with Joe Buck for another season.
Interestingly, he hasn’t crossed paths with his rather famous neighbor in Montecito, California.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle also reside in Montecito, but Aikman doesn’t expect to hang out with them anytime soon. “I haven’t come across them,” he shared. “But they’re around, from what I can gather. I mean, it’s pretty hard not to know they’re there. But I won’t be spending time with them, that’s for sure.”
The Dallas Cowboys icon has been busy promoting his line of eight light beers and humorously speculated that Prince Harry and Meghan probably aren’t big fans of “light beers.”
Since relocating to Montecito in 2020 after stepping back from their roles in the royal family, it seems the couple hasn’t made many friends in their new neighborhood.
Residents of Montecito have had mixed reactions about the couple. Some expressed frustration about issues like heavy traffic and rising housing costs. However, not all share a negative view; others have defended them.
Sharon Stone, a neighbor to other celebrities, praised Harry and Meghan in a previous interview. “What’s really admirable is they didn’t come here expecting to be part of our community,” she said. “They engage with the locals. My friend saw them biking and waving while she was stopped at a light. They seem to be genuinely integrating and contributing to the community.”
Montecito has attracted various celebrities over the years, including Natalie Portman, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jeff Bridges, and Michael Keaton.
Aikman, who won three Super Bowls with the Cowboys, is gearing up for the upcoming NFL broadcast season on ESPN’s Monday Night Football, having begun his broadcasting career in 2001.
