B-2 Stealth Bombers Deploying to Guam Amid Iran Tensions
Flight tracking data indicates that six B-2 stealth bombers from Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri are en route to a U.S. Air Force Base in Guam. Voice communications with air traffic control confirm this movement.
The bombers seem to have refueled after leaving Missouri, which points to the possibility that they took off with a reduced fuel load, likely because of a heavy onboard payload, potentially including a bunkerbuster bomb.
The B-2 has the capacity to carry two 15-ton bunkerbuster bombs, a weapon system exclusive to the United States. Analysts suggest these bombs could play a crucial role in targeting Fordow, a heavily fortified nuclear facility in Iran.
Mark Debowitz, CEO of the Democracy Foundation, commented that attacking Fordow from the air is a task that only the U.S. appears prepared to undertake. Jonathan Luhe, director of foreign policy at Jinsa, elaborated on how bunkerbuster bombs operate. He mentioned that they utilize gravity to penetrate layers of earth, rock, and concrete, detonating underground to either demolish the target or severely damage surrounding structures without entirely obliterating them.
Rising Threats from Iran
Amid these developments, President Donald Trump is expected to announce decisions regarding U.S. engagement in the ongoing Israeli-Iran conflict. He will reportedly be briefed by the National Security Council as he considers potential actions against Iran this weekend.
There have been discrepancies in U.S. intelligence assessments; for example, Director of National Intelligence Tarsi Gabbard previously claimed that there was no evidence supporting assertions about Iran’s nuclear ambitions. Gabbard later accused the media of distorting her statements for sensationalism.
Currently, U.S. intelligence reportedly suggests that if Iran proceeds unimpeded, it could develop nuclear weapons within weeks or months, a situation President Trump aims to prevent.
While the U.S. has refrained from taking direct military action, the State Department recently announced sanctions against several entities and individuals linked to the procurement of sensitive machinery for Iran’s defense sector. This comes even as Secretary of State Marco Rubio has tried to maintain a delicate balance between U.S. allies and Iran amidst rising tensions.
