Tommy Fleetwood Speaks After Close Call at Travelers Championship
After finishing as runner-up at the Travelers Championship, Tommy Fleetwood shared his feelings with reporters, admitting, “I’m upset right now,” and “I’m angry.” It seemed like he was on track for victory, holding a two-shot lead with three holes to go at TPC River Highlands.
However, during the final hole, he missed a crucial 6-foot putt, and with a bogey on 18, he watched as Keegan Bradley capped off the day with a winning putt.
Reflecting on the situation, Fleetwood acknowledged, “I haven’t been in this position for a while.” He expressed his feelings of frustration but also recognized the importance of assessing what went well during the tournament. “It’s been quite some time since I wasn’t in this position all year, and while I did a lot of good, I know I could have done better,” he noted.
Throughout the four-day event, it was evident how much this outcome affected him. Fleetwood tried to maintain composure but struggled to hide his disappointment.
“When everything calms down, the worst thing I could do is let this week impact my future,” he said. He emphasized that he had positioned himself well during the tournament, leading for most of it. “I just wanted to replicate this success moving forward,” he added, with a hint of regret over his missed opportunities.
As he wrapped up his thoughts, there was a mix of resolve and disappointment in his tone. “I hoped I would have left the course on a better note,” he concluded.
