I Was Chosen Takes the Lead on Prime Video
The series “I Was Chosen” climbed to the top of Prime Video’s charts, becoming the most-watched title on Monday. Interestingly, this marks the second time in 2025 that the Bible-based show has achieved this milestone on Amazon’s streaming service. Just a week later, it seized the No. 1 spot again with the premiere of its latest season, Season 5.
This season managed to outshine other popular titles like “We Were Liars,” “Accountants 2,” “Better Sisters,” and “Deeper Cover,” rounding out the top five on Prime Video. Other titles in the top ten include “White Chicks” at No. 8, “Twister” at No. 9, and “Summer is Getting Better” at No. 10.
Another Bible-inspired series, “David’s House,” also enjoyed significant success earlier this year, taking the top spot at one point.
Season 5 features pivotal moments from Jesus’ life, such as His entry into Jerusalem, the cleansing of the temple, and the Last Supper. The first two episodes launched on June 15, followed by episodes 3 to 5 on June 22. The final three episodes of Season 5 will be available for streaming starting June 29.
Prime Video has become the exclusive streaming home for “I Was Chosen” this year, thanks to a partnership with the production team behind the series, which has provided additional funding for future seasons. Creator and director Dallas Jenkins noted earlier this year that this collaboration will “supercharge” their marketing efforts.
According to Jenkins, Prime Video’s extensive marketing capabilities can greatly amplify the show’s reach. He mentioned that licensing fees would expedite their efforts to translate the series into various languages, making it accessible to more viewers globally.
The platform currently boasts 200 million subscribers worldwide, which certainly contributes to its promotional power.
Jenkins emphasized, “Their license fees help us reach 1 billion people much faster.”
In summary, with the help of Prime Video, “I Was Chosen” aims to expand its audience and enhance its international presence. As Jenkins explained, they can quickly adapt to demand for translations, ensuring the series reaches viewers all around the world more efficiently.
