Issues Arise from Bank Upgrades in Holyoke

Holyoke, MA – Recent system upgrades at local banks have led to a variety of challenges for customers. Peoplesbank, based in Holyoke, has introduced a new online system which promises to make transactions quicker, simpler, and more secure. However, the transition has not been smooth.

Some customers have voiced their frustrations following the update. The enhancements were intended to improve online banking, but for a number of users, the outcome has been quite the opposite. One customer reached out, mentioning, “I called all the branches and got no response. My sister-in-law’s debit card isn’t working. Bill payments haven’t gone through.”

Matthew Bannister, Senior Vice President of Peoplesbank, has acknowledged these concerns. He noted that while some of the bank’s 90,000 customers are facing difficulties with the new system, features like invoice payment, which experienced downtime, are now operational again. “They can access their funds, use ATMs for cash, or make purchases with their debit cards,” he reassured.

Nonetheless, Peoplesbank is inundated with inquiries for technical support. Many users have expressed their dissatisfaction on the bank’s Facebook page, especially regarding the re-registration process. “To complete re-registration, an accurate mobile number and email address are required. Customers need to ensure their information is current, which has been a challenge for some,” he explained.

In light of these “challenging” times, Bannister emphasized that Peoplesbank is eager to assist. Customers can visit any branch for help or send direct messages through their Facebook page. For those trying to reach the helpline, new options became available as of Tuesday night. “Some of our support lines were so overwhelmed that we created new numbers to help—(877) 888-1388. Our operators are ready to assist through Facebook Messenger as well,” he added.
