Trump Administration Waives Privileges for Biden’s Aides

The White House under President Trump has lifted protections for nine aides linked to former President Joe Biden, coinciding with an upcoming Congressional hearing focused on Biden’s mental fitness during his presidency. This development was confirmed by White House officials.

By waiving the executive privileges, Congress will have better access to discussions involving Biden’s past aides. Notably, former advisor Neela Tanden’s protections were set aside just before her testimony. Other aides, such as Anthony Bernal and several advisors like Annie Williams and Steve Richetti, are also now exempt from those privileges.

It’s suggested that the evidence could imply that former aides concealed information regarding Biden’s capacity to wield presidential powers, potentially infringing upon Congressional authority.

The GOP has initiated multiple inquiries into Biden’s health throughout his term. Of particular interest is Kevin O’Connor, Biden’s former doctor, who is slated to provide a deposition before the House Oversight Committee in July. Initially, O’Connor declined an invitation for voluntary testimony, which led to a subpoena issued by Republican Rep. James Comer. Earlier in June, a few aides from the Biden administration agreed to participate in a transcribed interview with the committee.

The conversation around Biden’s health gained new traction after the release of a book by CNN’s Jake Tupper and Axios reporter Alex Thompson. The book, compiling around 200 interviews with Biden’s White House staff and Democratic insiders, presents concerning insights about the 82-year-old’s capabilities. Some excerpts indicate aides may even be contemplating more drastic measures regarding his mobility post-election, as well as moments of Biden failing to recognize familiar faces like actor George Clooney during significant events.
