Celebration at Zoran Mamdani’s Victory Party

Cynthia Nixon and Ella Emhoff joined other notable supporters to celebrate at Zoran Mamdani’s Watch Party after he triumphed over former governor Andrew Cuomo, the unexpected contender in the Democratic mayoral primary.

Emhoff, who is the stepdaughter of “Sex and the City” star Cynthia Nixon and former Vice President Kamala Harris, was present at the rooftop party in Long Island City, where Mamdani celebrated his victory shortly after midnight.

Nixon took to Instagram to mark the occasion, sharing a photo of herself with a raised fist—a personal nod to her past defeat to Cuomo in the 2018 gubernatorial primary.

In her post, Nixon exclaimed, “Zoran Mamdani crushed Andrew Cuomo at New York’s primary for Mayor!!!”

Emhoff also shared on her Instagram, posting a photo of herself reacting joyfully after the votes were tallied, exclaiming, “Guyssssss!!!! holy s-t,” a reflection of the excitement in the air.

Wearing a blue and yellow bandana adorned with Mamdani’s campaign logo, Emhoff captured the enthusiastic atmosphere with a video of supporters chanting, noting, “Last night’s energy was insane.”

Actor Kal Penn, who has known Mamdani since childhood, participated in the celebration as well. He shared a clip of the jubilant supporters reacting to Cuomo’s concession.

The 33-year-old Mamdani, a self-identified democratic socialist, defied polling expectations by finishing with a seven-point lead over Cuomo in the primary.

At his victory party, Mamdani addressed the crowd, stating, “Tonight we made history. In Nelson Mandela’s words, ‘It always seems impossible until it’s done,’ my friends, we did it.”
