Usha Vance Talks Future Aspirations
On Wednesday, Second Lady Usha Vance shared her thoughts about possibly becoming the First Lady in 2028. During a conversation with Meghan McCain on her podcast, “Citizen McCain,” she mentioned that people often inquire about her aspirations.
While she recognizes her husband, Vice President JD Vance’s potential in politics, Usha asserted that her move to the Washington area wasn’t intended to consider his political future. Interestingly, she also highlighted that four years ago, she had no desire to get involved in the political realm.
Usha noted a significant change in her perspective after her husband joined Trump’s ticket, feeling welcomed into the MAGA community. For the time being, she expressed a focus on the present rather than thoughts about the future. “I’m concentrating on my family, myself, and obviously my country—this is my main priority,” she explained. Yet, she didn’t entirely dismiss the idea of a future role, saying, “In an ideal world, I could settle back in my home and continue with my career.”
Usha stressed that she isn’t planning her next steps right now, stating, “I’m not scheming about what comes after this.” As for her husband, he’s viewed as a leading contender for the Republican nomination in 2028, but hasn’t formally committed to running.
Vance emphasized, “I’m not concentrating on politics at the moment, nor the midterm elections in 2026, much less the presidential ones in 2028. When the time comes, I’ll discuss it with the president.” He also added that he believes if they perform well, things will naturally align in their favor.
