Tragic Incident in Minnesota
Jenny Belter, whose husband Vance Boelter is implicated in the assassination of former Minnesota Senator Melissa Hortman and her spouse Mark, expressed that her family feels “completely blindsided.” She characterized his actions as a “betrayal.”
Authorities suspect Vance Boelter carried out a targeted attack on the Hortmans, which also left another senator, John Hoffman, and his wife Yvette injured. The tragic shooting occurred on June 14.
Reports indicate that Boelter posed as a police officer before allegedly arriving at the lawmakers’ home, where the violence erupted. When police confronted him outside, gunfire was exchanged, allowing him to flee on foot.
This incident prompted a massive manhunt, eventually leading to his arrest—one of the largest in Minnesota’s history.
“On behalf of my children and me, I’d like to extend our deepest condolences to the Hortman and Hoffman families. Our hearts go out to everyone grieving during this unimaginable time,” Jenny stated.
“We are shocked, heartbroken, and feel completely blindsided. This violence contradicts our family’s beliefs. It betrays everything our Christian faith represents,” she continued.
Jenny Belter further recounted her experience surrounding the tragic events of June 14.
“From the first moment we were in contact with law enforcement, we cooperated with the investigation completely. I received a call that morning urging me to meet my agent at a nearby gas station,” she shared.
“We appreciate the authorities’ dedication and professionalism in thoroughly investigating these crimes. We are thankful for Vance’s arrest and the protection it offers to others,” she added.
