The unexpected manner in which Cooper Flagg marked his achievement as the top draft pick.

Cooper Flagg had quite the celebration after being selected first in the 2025 NBA Draft.

He partied at Dave & Buster’s in Times Square, a popular sports bar and arcade chain.

During this fun outing, he received a special gold game card after the Mavericks chose him as a new standout player.

The specifics of what he can do with that card aren’t clear, but he seemed to enjoy playing “NBA Hoops” and “Super Bikes 3” throughout the night.

It must have been an emotional end to what was clearly a thrilling day for the Duke superstar.

Flagg became the sixth player from Duke to be picked first overall and the first since Paolo Banchero in 2022.

He took a moment to embrace his parents when NBA commissioner Adam Silver announced his name.

In his single college season, Flagg averaged 19.2 points and 7.5 rebounds per game.

He led Duke and played alongside other top prospects, including the fourth overall pick, Kon Knuppel, and the tenth pick, Khaman Maluach.

By stepping into this prestigious role, Flagg also becomes just the fourth player from Maine to be drafted into the NBA.

He joins the ranks of Jeff Turner, who enjoyed a decade-long career, along with Joe Harrington and Thomas Chappelle.

Yet, it’s important to note that none of these players had quite the buzz surrounding them as Flagg does.

Recognizing his status as a local hero, Maine Governor Janet Mills declared June 25th as Cooper Flagg Day.

Mills stated, “We declared today as Cooper Flagg Day,” earlier this year.

Flagg has always remained connected to his roots.

He began playing in high school at Nokomis High, where he led his team to a state championship. Even after moving to Montverde Academy in Florida, he kept his home state close to his heart.

The sentiment didn’t go unnoticed back home; his entire community followed his career closely.

During the draft, his high school hosted a watch party, with many local communities celebrating his remarkable achievement.
