World Record Breaker: Man Runs 465 Half Marathons

A man who started jogging to heal from a hernia has now set a world record by completing 465 half marathons in one year. Edward Molinaw, a 34-year-old personal trainer, logged an impressive 6,000 miles between April 6, 2023, and April 7, 2024.

His remarkable feat not only surpassed the previous record of 282 half marathons set between 2022 and 2023 but also earned him a world title, according to reports from a press agency.

“I loved sports like boxing, but after I had a hernia, it took around two years to get back into it,” Molinaw explained. “At that point, I could only run. Explosive movements were just out of the question.”

What started as a recovery method gradually became a fundamental part of his routine. Reports indicate that his commitment has inspired others, showcasing the strength of his dedication.

“I love inspiring people, and I thrive on that warrior spirit,” he shared. “It’s gratifying to see others improve and reach new heights.”

Training Regimen

Molinaw also claimed victory in a 2,000-mile virtual race across Africa. To achieve his goal, he devised a weekly plan consisting of 13 half marathons, often stacking several races in a single day. “I generally split my runs into halves, running twice on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and tackling the rest on the other days,” he noted.

Despite facing challenges like blisters and fatigue, he keeps pushing forward. “There are days when I’d rather not go out, but I remind myself that I have to,” he admitted, recognizing that this mental battle is as crucial as the physical one.

His nutrition mirrors his disciplined training. “I usually run on an empty stomach. I can’t stand feeling full when running long distances,” Molinaw explained. He primarily sticks to fruits, especially bananas, and opts for meat and fish in the evenings. “You can’t get stitches while running, it just doesn’t sit well,” he added, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a light stomach for optimal performance.

This journey of his has underscored the significance of self-discipline and resilience. “I try to complete a half marathon in about two hours, rest for five minutes, then start again,” he mentioned, sharing his methodical approach.

Even with the rigorous training, Molinaw believes that mental strength plays a significant role. “Honestly, I don’t really know how the body manages to find that second wind. I think it all boils down to belief,” he observed.

His achievements were formally recognized on June 1st when he received his world record certificate. Molinaw’s transition from recovering to becoming a record holder has made him a beacon of patience and perseverance.

“I want to show people that you can accomplish just about anything,” he concluded.
