David Bakhtiari, an offensive tackle for the Packers, took a surprising shot at Aaron Rodgers during the celebration of Jordan Love’s marriage to Ronica Stone over the weekend.
Bakhtiari mentioned to Rodgers, after spending ten seasons together on the Packers, that he hadn’t received an invite to the recent wedding of the Steelers quarterback, who remains unnamed.
“Love is love. Congratulations to love,” he shared on X. “At least one of my quarterbacks invited me to the wedding.”
He even included a bulging eye emoji and posted the same message on his Instagram story.
The three-time Pro Bowler added, “I’m really happy, [wife] Franky [Bakhtiari], have you seen any photos? Others may have had their ‘commitment ceremony’ with some ghost they saw in the dark,” which seems to refer to Rodgers and his spouse.
Bakhtiari’s comments led to some raised eyebrows, especially as Rodgers approached him and his family from the field.
His rapport with Love had an awkward start, particularly back when the Packers picked a replacement during the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft.
Following the Packers’ trade of Rodgers to the Jets in 2023, Bakhtiari noted, “This chapter ends here, but our friendship is forever.” It’s unclear whether he remains in touch with his former teammate.
Last year, they were photographed at the Kentucky Derby alongside ex-Packers players Davante Adams, A.J. Hawk, and Jimmy Graham.
Rodgers hasn’t publicly commented on Bakhtiari’s remarks.
A few weeks ago, when asked about a black ring he had been wearing, the former league MVP mentioned he had been married “a few months.” During an appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show,” he stated that his partner prefers to remain private amidst speculation about her identity.
Rodgers, who recently passed his physical, officially signed a one-year deal worth up to $19.5 million with the Steelers.
