Caitlin Clark's surprising position in WNBA players' All-Star voting disclosed

Caitlin Clark’s WNBA All-Star Buzz: A Mixed Reception

Caitlin Clark is attracting attention among basketball fans, but not all WNBA players seem impressed with her performance this year.

This season, Clark gathered an impressive 1,293,536 fan votes for the All-Star Game held in Indianapolis. However, she only landed in ninth place among guards when it came to player polling.

In media voting, Clark secured a third-place position, and her weighted score among guards was notable, placing her just behind Sabrina Ionescu of the Liberty and Arike Ogunbowale of the Wings.

Clark, along with Lynx forward Napheesa Collier, was named one of the All-Star Game captains, finishing first and second in the fan vote, respectively.

Interestingly, in the players’ poll, she did not rank as the best player on her own team.

Her statistics have seen a slight decline this season, averaging 18.2 points, 8.9 assists, and 5.0 rebounds per game, with a shooting efficiency of 29.5%. Last year, she managed to average 19.2 points, 8.4 assists, and 5.7 rebounds while shooting 34.4% from beyond the arc.

More significantly, Clark has participated in only nine of Indiana’s 16 games this season, struggling with injuries that have kept her off the court.

She missed five games early in the season due to left quad tension and then sat out the last two games with an injury to her left leg.

There’s uncertainty about her availability for the upcoming Commissioner’s Cup final.

Despite her limited playtime, Clark ranks 11th in the WNBA in scoring and second in assists. The 23-year-old has demonstrated her potential this season, showcasing a standout performance with 32 points, eight rebounds, and nine assists upon returning from injury on June 14, along with a triple-double effort on opening night.
