The WWE World Heavyweight Champion, Gunther, is set to have his sights on a showdown with Hall of Famer Goldberg. This follows Goldberg’s return to wrestling after targeting Gunther since their interactions at last year’s Bad Blood event. The tension is palpable, especially with Goldberg hinting at addressing some of Gunther’s remarks about him and his family during the “Saturday Night Main Event” on July 12.
Gunther commented that he would welcome the challenge if Goldberg were to threaten him, emphasizing, “That’s the strength you expect from Bill Goldberg.” He noted that Goldberg is known for being straightforward, cutting through any fluff. “He’s 58 now, but like before me, when he’s in the ring with me, I can say everyone.”
In recent weeks, Gunther hinted at defeating Goldberg in a matter of three minutes—a nod to Goldberg’s former prowess during his time in WCW.
Gunther shared with Fox News Digital that, regardless of whether their match lasts three minutes or much longer, he is focused on leaving Atlanta victorious. “At the end of the day, victory is a victory, especially because of the title,” he stated. He reflected on Goldberg’s past, how he gained fame for his quick finishes, and wondered what strategy Goldberg might employ this time around.
Gunther’s reign as World Heavyweight Champion might be short-lived, as Seth Rollins currently holds a contract that guarantees him a title shot whenever he chooses.
Despite everything, Gunther noted that Goldberg has plans to enter a premium live event later this month, hinting at the animosity still at play. The anticipation continues to build as fans await what’s next for these wrestling icons.
