Trump resembles the Founding Fathers despite the July 4th protests against kings.

For years now, there seems to be a growing trend, particularly among the far-left, to attack icons of American history—take the American flag, our founding principles, and even the significance of July 4th. They seem to want to erase or cancel all three.

That said, they don’t seem too hesitative about using these holidays to push their agendas. They’ve actually planned a second protest, dubbed “King 2.0,” set for July 4th, primarily featuring paid demonstrators. Their aims? To disparage President Donald Trump and his policies while also grabbing as much attention as they can from media sources.

It’s ironic. If these protesters had a deeper understanding of American history—or, honestly, if they thought more about what they were doing—they might see that Trump actually shares a lot of values with our Founding Fathers. I mean, think about it: he embodies courage, vision, and a willingness to take risks, just like they did. Surely, if they were to consider this, they might realize Trump is not, in fact, the oppressive “king” they make him out to be.

Reflecting on this, I can relate to this topic. A few years back, I wrote something on Independence Day centered around those who risked everything to sign the Declaration of Independence, aiming to shed some heroic light on them. That was really the motivation behind my book: to highlight the importance of protecting the American flag and what it stands for.

The flyer for the protest proclaims, “This July 4th, we are regaining our American promises.” Yet as I read on, it becomes clear that the organizer seems more like a paid spokesperson lacking any real principles. Underneath it all, it’s hard not to notice there are some power-hungry agendas at play, and they seem blind to the consequences of their actions on the rights and freedoms of ordinary Americans.

The flyer further states that this local protest has morphed into a national movement. They claim it’s not about left versus right, but really? What’s happening here smacks of opportunism. One has to wonder if these protesters have confused the real oppressive figures of our time, like those enacting stringent COVID-19 measures, with Donald Trump. Do they really forget the extent to which lives and livelihoods were affected during the pandemic?

It raises questions about their actual commitment to freedom when so many people suffered during those times, and they seem to be conveniently ignoring it now. It feels odd to claim oppression when many of them stood by as real restrictions took hold.

Ultimately, their aim seems less about advocating for rights or freedoms and more about tarnishing Trump’s reputation. Yet as they gather on July 4th, I’d really like them to consider the irony that their animosity may serve as their own shield.

Back in 1776, many wealthy individuals either stuck with the British crown or chose not to engage. They were worried about losing their privileges.

The signers of the Declaration of Independence were mostly well-off. They could be seen as the billionaires of their time, risking it all for something greater. So, what distinguished them from today’s wealthy individuals who shy away from courage? Well, it seems to boil down to their disdain for tyranny and their willingness to stand up against it.

When the colonies faced a pivotal moment between choosing freedom or tyranny, these men asked themselves what truly mattered. I can’t help but think that in 2015, Donald Trump faced similar questions. He didn’t need this; he could have chosen a life of luxury. Yet, like our founders, he opted for his country and, as a result, came perilously close to losing his life just last July.

So, if these protesters are really seeking to stand against oppression, they might want to scrutinize who they are ultimately supporting. Their current focus seems misplaced.

In many ways, Trump represents an embodiment of our Founding Fathers and deserves recognition as such.
