Francisco Lindor’s All-Star Selection Celebrated at Home
Francisco Lindor experienced a heartwarming moment on Wednesday when he found out he earned his first All-Star selection in six years.
The moving news was shared by his wife, Katia, via an Instagram story. Their two older sons presented Lindor, the Mets’ shortstop, with an art project to commemorate this MLB achievement.
Katia noted in her post, “We were waiting for an art n-craft project, waiting for an All-Star at home after his game.”
Lindor, now 31, accepted the sign warmly, displaying a blend of joy and pride.
Married since 2021, Katia, who recently welcomed their third child, a son named Kore, also took to Instagram to express her pride. She wrote, “I’m so proud of you.”
This celebration followed a 7-3 win against the Brewers, during which Lindor was honored with the sign.
In 2019, Lindor was last named an All-Star while playing with Cleveland. He is set to kick off this year’s All-Star Game in Atlanta on July 15th.
Reflecting on the honor, he remarked, “This is something I don’t take for granted. It’s an incredible event. I’m honored and blessed. I was very happy, proud and excited.”
Wednesday marked a significant day for Lindor, as he broke out of a slump with a home run, three hits, and three RBIs during the Mets’ doubleheader win.
He had been underperforming, going 60-8 since June 15th. “I felt good in the first game. I didn’t get a barrel for baseball,” Lindor explained. “In the second game, we actually got a barrel for baseball.”
Later, he expressed his appreciation for the Mets fans and the team that helped him reach this milestone. “I’m an All-Star because of them, so I want to take a little time to thank the fans,” he shared. “Thank you to everyone who voted for me: the trainers who kept me on the field, my teammates, the coach who prepares me every day.”
