Lucas Glover’s Stance on LIV Golf Players
There’s an old saying that time heals all wounds, but for PGA Tour veteran Lucas Glover, that wisdom might not resonate right now—especially in the context of the ongoing split between the PGA and LIV Golf.
Despite petitions from some of golf’s leading talents and even voices from the White House, Glover has made it clear that he’s not keen on competing alongside those who have transitioned to LIV Golf.
Before the tournament, Glover shared his thoughts on his SiriusXM PGA Tour radio show, stating, “I don’t want to play with them, personally. I don’t think they should come back here. They made their choice. I don’t blame them for what they decided, but they must also understand the implications. I’m someone who has always dreamed of playing on the PGA Tour, putting my heart and soul into this season.”
The ongoing friction between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf is far from settled, with both organizations attempting to find a way to unify the sport.
As Glover articulated, “I don’t want them to come here and take opportunities from the kids who are trying to make their way.” It’s an interesting position, really, considering Glover acknowledges that players like Bryson DeChambeau and John Rahm bring leverage to negotiations surrounding media rights, which does benefit the tour.
He mentioned, “Our TV contract in 2030 looks promising and is set to benefit all of us.” Currently, Glover sits at 46th in the world rankings and ranks 31st in the FedEx Cup standings.
