Mets Broadcast Booth Delivers Laughs with Bathroom Banter

After the Mets secured a victory, fans tuned into a light-hearted moment in the SNY broadcast booth, centering around Keith Hernandez’s unexpected bathroom anecdote.

The amusing exchange started with SNY field reporter Steve Gelbs sharing a quirky story about how Mets bench coach John Gibbons uses a plunger-like suction cup to pick up baseballs from the field.

Gary Cohen couldn’t resist chiming in. “Did you ever think your plunger skills would translate to baseball?” he inquired, leading to some laughter in the booth.

Suddenly, Hernandez entered the fray with his own unexpected twist, saying, “Well, I actually had to use a plunger a few days ago at home.” The laughter momentarily quieted, but Cohen swiftly responded, “We really don’t want to hear about it.” However, Hernandez was not done. “It was quite effective,” he noted with a smirk.

After a pause filled with chuckles, Cohen took a stab at changing the subject. “Have you ever heard this expression?” he questioned, trying to steer the commentary in a different direction.

The Mets broadcast team, comprised of Cohen, Hernandez, and former pitcher Ron Darling, is known for their engaging and entertaining style, making even ordinary moments memorable.

In a previous broadcast, Cohen had another amusing moment when he mentioned running an ad for Bluechew, an erectile dysfunction product. His comment, “I’ll bite you,” left Hernandez confused, prompting him to ask, “What does that mean?” Cohen laughed it off, explaining that he was just sticking to the script. “I read what’s in front of me,” he replied, focusing on delivering the ad as best as he could.

As the Subway Series at Citi Field approaches this weekend, fans can expect more entertaining interactions from the SNY booth.
