Mets Owner Celebrates “Fab Four” After Dramatic Win

Mets owner Steve Cohen took to social media to commend his team’s “Fab Four” following an exciting 7-6 victory over the Orioles on Tuesday night.

“What an incredible win driven by Tonight’s Fab Four,” Cohen tweeted after the game at Camden Yards.

The “Fab Four” referenced by Cohen likely includes stars like Francis Lindor, Juan Soto, Pete Alonso, and Brandon Nimmo, all of whom played crucial roles in the team’s comeback against Baltimore. Interestingly, these players were also the first four in the batting order.

Lindor and Alonso both hit two-run homers in the eighth inning to level the score, while Nimmo had a double earlier in the sixth that had initially put the Mets ahead 2-1.

They collectively accounted for eight of the Mets’ 11 hits during the game.

The post quickly attracted attention from Mets fans, many of whom urged Cohen to consider extending contracts for one of the four players. Alonso holds a $24 million player option for next season, and there’s speculation he might opt out in search of a more lucrative deal.

“Steve, let’s keep Pete for the long haul!” one fan commented on Cohen’s post. Another wrote, “Sign Pete for life!” Another fan echoed the sentiment, while yet another chimed in, “Extend Pete so these four can stay together for a long time! Thank you!” That user expressed their thoughts.

Ronnie Mauricio also homered for the Mets, with Edwin Diaz pitching nine scoreless innings. Haskar Brazovan closed out the game with the final three outs in the tenth for a save.

Mets starter Clay Holmes gave up five runs on seven hits across five innings during the game.

The Mets, now at 53-39, have won five of their last six games and have two more matchups against the Orioles before heading into a three-game series with the Royals right before the All-Star break.
