Kevin O’Connor Appeals to the Fifth Amendment in Biden Competency Testimony

Kevin O’Connor’s Fifth Complaint Before House Oversight Committee

Dr. Kevin O’Connor, who has served as a physician to former President Joe Biden, brought a complaint before the House Oversight Committee for the fifth time on Wednesday.

O’Connor has been closely associated with Biden over the years. Reports indicate that he has personal ties to family business dealings and faced scrutiny for not answering lawmakers’ inquiries during a recent hearing, as noted by Chairman James Comer.

Comer suggested that O’Connor’s refusal to respond to questions indicates a possible conspiracy to obscure President Biden’s cognitive issues. He expressed this sentiment on social media, mentioning, “It’s clear that there was a conspiracy to cover up President Biden’s cognitive decline after Biden’s doctor, Dr. O’Connor, refused to answer questions and chose to hide behind the Fifth Amendment.”

He further stated, “Americans demand transparency, but Dr. O’Connor prefers to conceal the truth. When asked if he was instructed to mislead regarding President Biden’s health, he opted to invoke his rights.” Comer emphasized the need for Congress to consider legislation to prevent such situations in the future while stating intentions to continue interviewing White House aides.

O’Connor reportedly requested a postponement of his testimony, citing disagreements over the questions that the GOP-led panel was permitted to ask. The committee originally summoned him for questioning on June 25.

In June, Texas Republican Rep. Ronnie Jackson, who previously led the White House medical unit, charged O’Connor with sexual misconduct, increasing the scrutiny surrounding Biden’s longtime physicians. Additionally, O’Connor garnered attention when it was revealed he had been diagnosed with aggressive prostate cancer months after Biden’s presidency ended, leading to questions about whether prior medical assessments had overlooked the condition.

The committee is set to conduct five more interviews with senior Biden aides in late July and early August, including discussions with former senior communications advisor Anita Dan, a past counselor, and a former chief of staff at the White House.
