Jannik Sinner Reaches Wimbledon Semi-Finals

Jannik Sinner has advanced to the semi-finals of Wimbledon after defeating American player Ben Shelton in straight sets on Wednesday. At just 22 years old, this marks Sinner’s first trip to the quarter-finals at the All England Club. Despite facing some injury issues, he showcased impressive skill, winning with scores of 7-6 (2), 6-4, 6-4.

“I’m really pleased with how I played today,” Sinner commented during an on-court interview. He acknowledged the challenge Shelton posed, noting his strong serve and past performance. “It’s always tough, but I’m looking forward to that kind of battle,” he added.

In this match, Sinner delivered 14 aces, with a notable serve reaching 118 mph and the fastest serve of the day clocking in at 132 mph. In contrast, Shelton struggled with 38 forced errors and was unable to capitalize on breakpoints.

Sinner, meanwhile, battled through an elbow injury and managed seven aces and 17 forced errors. “When you’re under pressure, you tend to ignore the injury,” he mentioned. “I felt a lot better today than yesterday,” he noted, reflecting on his challenging practice session prior to the match.

Sinner’s victory sets the stage for a semi-final clash against Serbian star Novak Djokovic, who recently overcame Flavio Koboli in his quarter-final match. This will be Djokovic’s 14th appearance in the Wimbledon semi-finals.
