Charley Hull withdraws from Evian Championship after fainting twice

LPGA Tour golfer Charlie Hull withdrew from the Evian Championship after experiencing health issues during the opening round on Thursday.

While playing alongside British golfers Ying and Harlan Ryu, Hull found herself feeling unwell, specifically at the fourth tee of the Evian Resort Golf Club in France. Reports indicate she had already been feeling ill during the previous hole.

After hitting her second shot, Hull collapsed, prompting medical attention about 15 minutes later. She received an IV drip on-site but fortunately did not require hospitalization.

Richard Kaufman, a broadcaster, commented on the situation, noting the distress this caused for both Hull and her playing partner.

Competing alongside her, Leona Maguire from Ireland and American golfers Andrealy and Jennifer Kupcho had impressive performances, all finishing the day at six under par.

The tournament will run until Sunday, with Hull, ranked 19th in the world, aiming for her first major title.

Earlier this summer, Hull finished 12th in both the US Women’s Open and the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship. Unfortunately, she missed the cut at her initial major, the Chevron Championship, back in April.

The AIG Women’s Open, the final major of the year, is set to kick off on July 31st in Wales.
