Dan Patrick Speaks Out on ESPN’s Smear Campaign
Dan Patrick, the host of “The Dan Patrick Show,” recently revealed that he believes he was subjected to a smear campaign by ESPN after he decided to launch his own venture nearly two decades after leaving the network. During an appearance on the Bar Stool Podcast, Patrick expressed his concerns about facing backlash from ESPN, noting that he thinks the network will attempt to undermine his new beginnings.
“It’s a bit daunting,” Patrick remarked, referencing the start of what he claims is a smear campaign. If any radio affiliates want to continue airing his show, he fears they might be pressured to drop him as an ESPN affiliate.
Despite facing what he describes as attempts to sabotage his success, Patrick claims he feels empowered by the situation and understands why ESPN might react this way. He reflected on the heaviness of the decision but ultimately views it as an empowering experience.
Patrick worked at ESPN from 1989 until 2006, staying on with ESPN Radio until 2007. His decision to leave was surprising to many at the time as he prepared to start anew.
He also mentioned that the communication from the network about his decision to leave was abrupt, implying that he’s had to adapt quickly to the changes.
Fox News Digital reached out to ESPN for a response but has not received any comments yet.
