Erica Jane’s New Romance Amid Divorce Drama

Erica Jane, known from “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” has been seen with a new man as her divorce from Tom Girardi continues. The two were spotted enjoying each other’s company while running errands in Los Angeles on July 7.

Her new companion, John “Shrek” McPhee, is a retired U.S. Army Special Operations Sergeant, also referred to as the “Baghdad Sheriff.” He boasts over two decades of military service and is now working as a bodyguard while managing his own brand, SOB. Additionally, McPhee has expressed a desire to impart various skills through his work.

As for Girardi, the estranged husband and former attorney, he’s facing serious legal troubles, including charges of $15 million in embezzlement.

McPhee has spoken about the challenges of relationships in the military, likening marriage to being confined, where communication is possible but leave isn’t.

The divorce process for Jane and Girardi has been particularly complicated. She filed for divorce in 2020, expressing a wish for privacy during this difficult time, while reflecting on their life together.

However, the divorce proceedings appeared shaky, reported risks of the case being dismissed surfaced after a hearing on June 26. Girardi’s legal representatives were noticeably absent, and Jane’s attorneys have indicated that a finalization of the divorce might not occur.

Jim Wilkes, an attorney involved, noted that Girardi’s condition, diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2021, complicates the situation further, as he is considered unable to address the case properly.

Girardi’s legal woes were highlighted when he faced federal charges in February 2023. These stemmed from allegations of fraud connected to the victims of the Lion Air Flight 610 incident, leading to a conviction on multiple counts of wire fraud and a prison sentence exceeding seven years.

Previously, Girardi was celebrated for representing clients against large corporations, notably winning a landmark $333 million settlement in the PG&E case, which inspired the film “Erin Brockovich.” However, since the allegations surfaced in 2020, his reputation has drastically changed, revealing a darker side to his professional life.
