Sean Casey reveals injury struggles following one at-bat with the Savannah Bananas

Sean Casey’s Recovery After Injury

Just three weeks prior, Sean Casey was making an appearance during a Savanna Bananas game at Cincinnati’s Great American Ballpark, where he once played during his eight seasons in Major League Baseball.

Now, he’s dealing with a torn hamstring and is seen sporting a significant brace. After walking on four consecutive pitches and reaching first base, Casey attempted to round the base toward second. Unfortunately, he quickly clutched his right foot in pain.

Though he made it safely to first, the injury forced him to exit the game prematurely.

It wasn’t until the next day that the extent of his injuries became clear. Cincinnati announcer Jim Day revealed during the Reds vs. Tigers game that Casey “tore his hamstring completely.”

Reports from Ty Schmidt on the “Pat McAfee Show” indicated that surgery was necessary for Casey’s hamstrings.

On Wednesday, Sean made a return to MLB Network’s “MLB Central,” though he had to wear a large brace following his surgery. During the show, he recounted the events of that fateful night, explaining that two of the three muscles in his hamstring had ripped away from the bone. “My hammie looked like pork coming out of a smoker,” he joked. “Is it a pulled pork sandwich? No, it’s my hamstring.”

Interestingly, this was the first time he had been upright since the 19th. During his playing days with the Reds, Casey earned three All-Star selections and eventually gained entry into the Reds Hall of Fame. Over his career, he tallied a .302 batting average, along with 130 home runs and 735 RBIs.
