Aaron Rodgers engaged in a lively exchange with fans who described themselves as “signhounds” during the American Century Championship Celebrity Tournament at Lake Tahoe on Thursday.
While signing autographs at the Edgewood Tahoe Resort course, Rodgers chatted with male fans who reminisced about attending the Packers vs. Saints game two decades ago.
One fan mentioned having a ticket from the 2005 game where the Saints lost 52-3 in Green Bay, a game where Rodgers was a backup to Brett Favre.
“I still remember that score—it was a blowout,” the fan said.
“Who did we play?” asked the 41-year-old Rodgers, quickly recalling the answer as New Orleans.
“Yeah, that’s on the ticket,” Rodgers pointed out, indicating the ticket stub.
Some fans mistakenly estimated the score as 50-3.
Rodgers replied sharply, “And did I actually play?”
“Just one pass,” the fan responded, trying to recollect the moment. “I remember you threw a pass… But it was a long time ago—20 years, I was only 16,” he added.
During that game, Rodgers indeed completed just one pass.
He noted he could easily retrieve the game’s statistics but expressed doubt about the fan’s claim. “But you can look into it,” he told the fan. “I could sign yours, but I’m not convinced, so I won’t.”
The fan, clearly disappointed, began to leave, insisting, “I was there.”
“No, you’re a signhound,” Rodgers countered.
Fans suggested that he could personalize the signatures to limit resale value, yet he maintained his stance.
“You can’t fool me,” he reiterated as the sounds of dissent faintly echoed in the background.
Rodgers is among several prominent athletes participating in this weekend’s celebrity golf tournament at Tahoe, where other stars include Warriors guard Steph Curry and Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.
