Passionate Superfan’s NHL Arena Adventure

Will Cialcci is on a unique quest. He’s a devoted fan, determined to visit all 33 NHL arenas across the U.S. and Canada. This mission isn’t just about satisfying his own dreams; he also acts as an unofficial guide for fellow travelers.

Cialcci, a season ticket holder for the Islanders, started this journey roughly a decade ago after a breakup with someone who didn’t share his love for sports. “I realized I didn’t want to just stay home,” he said, reflecting on that pivotal moment.

With support from Tom Rofaso, the commander of the Blue and Orange Army, Cialcci embarked on this extensive trip over seven years, rating each arena he visits.

One of his less favorable experiences was at the Canadian Tire Centre, home of the Ottawa Senators. He mentioned feeling “stuck in the 1990s” during his time there, expressing his dissatisfaction with the venue.

Other arenas that didn’t impress him include Key Bank Centre in Buffalo, Lenovo Centre in Carolina, Rogers Arena in Vancouver, Capital Arena in Washington, and Scotia Bank Arena in Toronto. Interestingly, he referred to the latter as “Canadian MSG,” perhaps indicating a hint of disappointment.

Madison Square Garden and UBS Arena Rankings

Madison Square Garden, despite its iconic status, wasn’t ranked highly by him. Cialcci criticized its steep prices and cramped seating arrangements.

In contrast, UBS Arena, home to the Islanders, earned a respectable fourth place in his rankings. It trails only Rogers Place in Edmonton, T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, and Little Caesars Arena in Detroit. Cialcci is clearly drawn to these modern, fan-friendly venues.

He also encourages fellow hockey enthusiasts to experience the lively atmosphere at Bell Centre in Montreal and suggests checking out the Columbus Blue Jackets’ home, which he describes as a hidden treasure.

Upcoming Events on Long Island

In local sports news, the Long Island Ducks are preparing for a three-game home series against the Lancaster Stormers this weekend. Excitement continues with a fireworks display scheduled for Saturday’s 7 PM game.

Additionally, the Hamptons Youth Triathlon will take place at 7:30 AM on Saturday morning at Foster Memorial Beach in Sag Harbor. It’s a busy weekend ahead!
