Kirk Cousins Talks Haircuts and Challenges in New Docuseries

Atlanta Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins has emerged as one of the NFL’s most talked-about players, especially following his recent appearance in the Netflix docuseries “Quarterback.” In this series, he shared a rather intriguing detail about his hair grooming—he opts for haircuts at Great Clips, a popular chain with thousands of locations across the U.S.

Cousins explained that while he travels often, finding a reliable haircut can be a bit tedious. He noted, “I always go to one place. It’s Great Clips. I can use the app to see the wait times. If it’s under 15 minutes, I just sign up, drive over, and I’m usually in the chair pretty quickly.”

Interestingly, Cousins admitted that the only part of his haircut experience that feels out of the ordinary is showing off his NFL headshot to his stylist. “I pull up the Falcons’ headshot and say, ‘This is what I’m aiming for. Just fade it up, please,'” he said, laughing at the quirky ritual.

In the documentary, he also touched on feeling somewhat “misunderstood” during his transition from Minnesota, implying there was no real reason for him to leave. “I started sharing pictures from headshots,” he explained, “to help eliminate any confusion.” It seems like this tactic might make things a bit easier for him in the barber chair.

Despite the challenges of frequent relocations—Cousins mentioned he simply Googles for the nearest Great Clips no matter where he is—he remains loyal to the brand. “I’ve trusted Great Clips for a long time,” he said. “It’s just what works for me.”

Currently in his second year of a four-year, $180 million contract with Atlanta, Cousins expressed that his haircut routine is sometimes a bit rushed. “The toughest part is when you can’t stay consistent with the same stylist. You just never know what the results will be,” he remarked with a smile.

This past season, Cousins was 7-7 and found himself benched in favor of rookie Michael Penix Jr. after throwing for 3,508 yards, 18 touchdowns, and 16 interceptions.
