Leader of ICE-Raided Marijuana Farm Gave Thousands in Donations to Newsom and Democrats

Marijuana Executive’s Political Donations Amid Controversy

The president of a marijuana company that faced immigration scrutiny has reportedly contributed significant funds to Democrats over recent years.

Graham Farrar, who leads Glass House of Farms, has donated thousands to support California Governor Gavin Newsom and other Democratic figures. His company is currently under investigation after Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) conducted a raid, which included allegations related to violations of child labor laws.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) characterized those who clashed with federal agents during the raid as protesters. They have announced a $50,000 reward for information on a person suspected of firing at law enforcement during the incident.

California campaign finance records indicate that Farrar contributed $10,000 to Newsom’s campaign in 2018. More recently, he gave $1,000 in July 2023 to Democratic Representative Greg Hart.

Additionally, Farrar has made several donations to the Santa Barbara County Democratic Central Committee’s Federal Political Action Committee, along with contributions to California Democratic Representative Sardo Carvajal, as noted by Federal Election Commission records.

Glass House Farms did not respond to a request for comment.

ICE and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents raided two marijuana farms in Southern California, resulting in the arrest of numerous illegal immigrants, including minors suspected of being exploited.

A statement from DHS indicated that at least ten migrant children were rescued from conditions resembling exploitation and potential trafficking. CBP Commissioner Rodney Scott shared images of these children and urged California to collaborate in preventing child exploitation.

Strangely, in the aftermath, some Democratic politicians seemed to mistakenly believe the farm was involved in growing typical produce. For instance, California Representative Jimmy Gomez suggested it might be a strawberry farm.

Glass House Brands acknowledged the issuance of immigration warrants for their property but asserted that they do not employ minors. In a social media post, they confirmed compliance with the law and stated, “The workers are detained, and we help them provide legal representation.” They emphasized that they have never intentionally violated employment practices or employed minors.
