Nick Offerman states that 'foolish people' believe Ron Swanson would back Trump.

new In a recent interview, Nick Offerman, known for his role as Ron Swanson on “Parks and Recreation,” expressed disbelief that anyone would think his character would support President Donald Trump. He referred to those who believe this as “silly people.” Offerman shared that he consulted with the show’s creator, Mike Schur, who indicated that Ron Swanson, in fact, thought Trump was, well, an “absolute idiot.”

He remarked, “People who say Ron Swanson voted for Trump, I just can’t understand that.” Offerman then added that Ron wouldn’t have voted for Trump due to his disrespect toward women, among other reasons.

During the time “Parks and Recreation” aired on NBC from 2009 to 2015, the character Swanson was beloved, but Offerman has long defended him against misinterpretations of his values. Notably, he addressed an incident involving Michael Flynn Jr., who had used clips of Swanson inappropriately, particularly during Pride Month. Flynn Jr. posted a video of Ron throwing a rainbow flag into a trash bin, captioned to express his disdain for Pride Month.

Offerman found humor in Flynn Jr.’s take, saying, “Ron was the best guy at a ridiculous gay wedding.” He mentioned that his character even served as a gay hairdresser and best man in the series finale, which adds another layer of contradiction to the narrative surrounding Swanson.
