Quinshon Judkins was released by the Browns and subsequently arrested in Florida on Saturday, facing charges related to battery and domestic violence.
The specific charges, filed in Broward County, are categorized as “touch or strike/battery/domestic violence.” Records referenced indicate more details.
Judkins was chosen in the second round of the Browns’ NFL Draft for 2025.
A spokesperson for the Browns mentioned that the team is currently gathering more details regarding Judkins’ arrest, as reported by local media.
The 21-year-old Judkins was the 37th overall pick, hailing from Ohio, and is anticipated to become the team’s primary running back in the upcoming season. He’s set to fill the role left by Nick Chubb, who signed a one-year deal worth $2.5 million with the Texans back in June.
Following the draft, Browns assistant GM Katherine Hickman spoke positively about Judkins, suggesting that his playing style is reminiscent of Chubb’s. “His physicality, his contact balance, how he runs with strength is what I observed with Nick,” she noted. “While I’m not saying he’s exactly like Nick, the style he brings aligns well with our objectives.”
During his final season at Ohio State, Judkins excelled, accumulating 2,725 rushing yards and scoring 31 touchdowns across 26 games, ultimately leading his team to a national championship.
Alongside Judkins, the Browns also selected running back Dylan Sampson in the fourth round during the same draft.
Despite being a second-round pick, Judkins remains the only unsigned player from the Browns’ draft class, highlighting concerns that the proposed contract exceeds the guaranteed funds.
