LGBTQ+ activists in France, spanning both the left and right, are at the center of accusations involving an underground network linked to the abuse of a three-year-old child under the influence of drugs.
Pierre Allain Cottineau, a former candidate for the left-wing La France Insoumise (LFI) party in the 2021 regional elections and ex-leader of an LGBTQ+ activist group, stands accused of organizing this darknet child exploitation network.
According to reports from the French newspaper Leparician, they have obtained internal communications and video evidence from Cottineau’s group. The material is described as “extremely violent” and disturbing.
The footage reportedly shows a young boy, around two or three years old, being severely assaulted by a group of men during what has been labeled a “bad orgy.”
This investigation began when Dutch police discovered footage of very young girls, possibly aged three to four, in distressing circumstances, calling out for their mother as a man intervened. Notably, one girl appeared to have a disability and was subjected to further trauma.
A screenshot of the child’s face was sent to the French juvenile office, which specializes in child abuse cases. The nursery manager identified the child as a disabled girl, who had previously been in social services care but was later placed with Cottineau, who had a daughter in the same class.
Cottineau received custody of the girl after completing a 60-hour training program and passing a background check, which apparently did not flag any concerns.
Once he emerged as a potential suspect, Cottineau allegedly fled to Tunisia, possibly for vacation. However, Leparician reported that his departure seemed rushed, hinting at concerns over the ongoing investigation.
In a twist, after French security services contacted him, Cottineau agreed to return to France last September, facing charges related to rape and “torture or barbarism.”
The report from Leparician indicated that he was suspected as a co-conspirator in an earlier arrest in February. It claimed that Cottineau was witnessed preparing a drug called Xanax, which was intended for his juvenile victim.
The publication also mentioned that Cottineau had sent a message in a chat from the darknet group, indicating a disturbing willingness to engage with children.
Furthermore, Leparician reported that Cottineau’s mother allegedly informed police of a past incident where he, at the age of 15, reportedly assaulted a four-year-old after revealing he was gay, subsequently notifying Child Protective Services. However, this did not seem to raise any red flags when he was later given custody of the young girl.
In reaction to these developments, French MEP Marion Maréchal remarked that the situation is “stomach-churning” and called out for serious reflection on the system’s failures in protecting children.
