In a recent interview, Tucker Carlson, a political commentator and former Fox News host, criticized Attorney General Pam Bondy regarding the scrutiny surrounding the Trump administration’s handling of documents linked to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
During the interview with NBC News, released on Monday, Carlson suggested that the Department of Justice possesses a significant amount of information on Epstein’s sexual offenses that could satisfy those calling for the release of what are being referred to as the “Epstein Files.”
“Pam Bondi shows that she can’t back down. Instead of addressing numerous questionable claims made on cable news, she’s demonstrating her inability to defend herself, and this current outrage is a consequence of that,” Carlson remarked.
Bondy has faced considerable backlash after acknowledging last week that there is no “client list” connected to Epstein’s allegations of minor sex trafficking and confirmed there is no evidence to dispute claims that he committed suicide while incarcerated in 2019.
President Trump has consistently defended Bondy, encouraging his supporters to move past the Epstein case, all while maintaining pressure on his base to dismiss the former Florida Attorney General.
Back in February, Bondi stated during a Fox News interview that Epstein’s client list was on her desk for examination, claiming that the DOJ had gathered several hours of related video footage. Then in March, the White House invited 15 far-right influencers to an event, where Bondi was presented with a white binder titled “Epstein Files: Phase 1,” but the information included was largely available publicly.
In a subsequent TV appearance, Bondi claimed she was misled into implying that she possessed comprehensive files on the government’s investigation into Epstein and mentioned that she sought additional documents after being contacted by an alleged “whistleblower.”
Last week, she clarified that she intended to discuss documents related to Epstein’s case and not a specific “client list,” asserting there was nothing more beyond what was already known.
Trump expressed his unwavering support for Bondi, stating, “She’s doing an amazing job!” He added, “We’re all part of one team, Maga. I don’t like what’s happening. We have a perfect regime, a remarkable story, and ‘selfish people’ trying to derail it.”
