Ghislaine Maxwell's old property is up for sale at $2.5 million

The estate once owned by Ghislaine Maxwell, prominently linked with Jeffrey Epstein, is now on the market.

This 156-acre retreat in New Hampshire is where she was arrested quietly by federal agents in 2020. It has recently been listed again for $2.5 million, which is notably more than double the $1.1 million Maxwell paid for the property in December 2019, as noted by Realtor.com.

Interestingly, while the listing doesn’t mention its controversial past, it does emphasize the scenic views and secluded location, alongside “great craftsmanship.”

However, just five years ago, this wasn’t just any ordinary getaway. It was the site of one of the most closely watched criminal investigations in recent years.

Maxwell was found guilty in 2021 of assisting Epstein in the sexual abuse of minors. Investigators tracked her down to this location using cellphone data several months after her arrest.

In 2019, the property was acquired through a limited liability company, Granite Realty LLC, linked to Maxwell and her ex-partner, Scott Borgerson.

Prosecutors revealed in court how Maxwell posed as a journalist named Janet Marshall to purchase the property discreetly.

The real estate agent recounted that the buyer introduced himself as both Scott and Janet Marshall, claiming to have retired from the British Army and that Janet was a journalist.

Their approach seemed to be geared towards quickly establishing an LLC for the purchase.

The listing presents a rather picturesque image. The main house exhibits a captivating space anchored by a grand fieldstone fireplace, large windows, and a stone patio overlooking the landscape. Additional features include a bright sunroom, a spacious kitchen, and a cozy covered porch, all contributing to its rustic appeal.

The adjoining barn has been converted into a two-bedroom guesthouse, with the land showcasing beautifully maintained gardens, ponds, and trails. The property description appeals to various interests—be it hunting, farming, or simply seeking privacy—by promoting a “360-degree view of nature’s beauty.”

The property is listed by Margaret Weather from Sotheby’s, though she hasn’t responded to requests for comment.

Nevertheless, some voices raise pressing concerns regarding the sale. An unnamed insider mentioned, “If the house is sold, where will the money go? If it’s Ghislaine’s LLC, will it cover her legal fees or be directed to the victims?”

Currently, Maxwell is serving a 20-year sentence at FCI Tallahassee, and she is appealing her case to the U.S. Supreme Court after a lower court declined her appeal. Her legal arguments center on a supposed immunity agreement between Epstein and federal prosecutors, which she claims should have shielded her from prosecution.
