FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino returns to work during the Epstein files situation, according to a report

As noted earlier, FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino returned to work on Monday following a confrontation with Attorney General Pam Bondi regarding the Jeffrey Epstein case.

Sources indicated to CNN that Bongino, who is 50, came back to the office after taking a personal day on Friday. However, his future with the FBI remains precarious after this heated exchange with the head of President Trump’s Justice Department.

The issue stems from a memo released last week by the FBI and DOJ, which reviewed the lawsuit against Epstein, who died in a Manhattan prison on August 10, 2019.

The memo stated that this systematic review found no basis to validate the existence of a “client list” nor credible evidence indicating that Epstein had threatened any notable individuals during his actions. It concluded that no evidence was found to justify further investigation into unnamed parties.

In conjunction with this, the memo included a link to surveillance footage from the prison where Epstein died. Bongino and officials claimed that they proved no one entered the convicted pedophile’s cell on the night of his suicide.

Bongino’s concerns over the handling of the Epstein Files may lead to divisions within Trump’s base, prompting him to consider resigning to protest the perceived lack of transparency surrounding the case.

Prior to his role in the Trump administration, Bongino had speculated that the Epstein Files could contain more than what officials had publicly acknowledged.

Some supporters of Trump have expressed that Bondi should be removed from her position, voicing dissatisfaction during a Fox News interview in February where she suggested that Epstein’s client list should be examined closely.

Trump has indicated a preference for reason over chaos. “What’s happening with my ‘boy’ and, in some cases, ‘gal’? They’re all going after Attorney General Pam Bondi, who is doing great work!” Trump stated on social media.

He further emphasized that Bondi should be allowed to do her job, noting, “She’s amazing!”

On Sunday, Trump revealed to reporters that he had spoken with Bongino and believes he will continue with the FBI. “I think so. I told him today,” the president remarked. “Dan Bongino is a really nice guy. I’ve known him for a long time; I’ve been on his shows repeatedly.”

The FBI has not provided a prompt response to requests for comment regarding this situation.
