Dave Roberts fully supports Jacob Misiorowski's All-Star selection

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts isn’t upset about Jacob Misiorowski’s selection for the All-Star Game.

The Brewers pitcher was chosen for the Midsummer Classic despite having only made five major league starts—the least for any player in the game.

This decision has drawn criticism not just from fans, but also from analysts and other players.

However, Roberts, who manages the National League team, stated on Monday that including a younger pitcher is a “simple decision.”

“If it brings excitement to the game, then I’m all for it,” he said before the Home Run Derby. “To me, the All-Star Game should showcase the best players. It’s really about what the fans want to see.”

Misiorowski made his MLB debut on June 12 and quickly impressed with his hard-throwing style.

Though his first start was cut short due to injury, he still managed to dominate in five innings.

With a record of 4-1, a 2.81 ERA, and 33 strikeouts while allowing just 12 hits over 25 innings, he has shown promise.

His late entry into the league, along with his inexperience, has caused frustration for some, particularly among Philadelphia Phillies players.

Philadelphia shortstop Trea Turner expressed his disbelief, calling the situation “a joke” and saying, “It’s awful. I mean, it’s just awful for a guy.”

Misiorowski has become the focus of their complaints, especially when compared to teammate Christopher Sanchez, who boasts an 8-2 record and a 2.50 ERA.

“It’s not an attack on Misiorowski. It’s an honor for him to be here, and it should be,” remarked Kyle Schwarber, the only All-Star from Philadelphia. “It’s not his fault he’s pitched just five games and got the recognition.”

Despite the surrounding controversy, Misiorowski is enjoying his All-Star experience.

“The last five weeks have been wild,” he noted. “I thought the All-Star break would allow me to reflect, and here we are now.”
