Bill Maher Takes Apart John Leguizamo's Support for Illegal Migrants: It's 'Resources' Not 'Room'

Bill Maher Responds to John Leguizamo’s Comments on Immigration

On his podcast, Club Random, HBO host and comedian Bill Maher pushed back against left-wing comedian John Leguizamo’s assertions about room for more people in America. Maher disagreed, suggesting that instead of using the term “room,” a better word would be “resources.” He highlighted that the immigration discussion is more complex than just physical space.

Maher spoke about the current immigration issues and how President Biden’s handling of the situation has led to criticism. He pointed out that it isn’t simply a matter of inviting everyone in, stating, “It’s not like ‘come, everything’s coming.'” Leguizamo, however, maintained his view that there’s ample space in the country, countering Maher’s perspective by saying, “There’s plenty of space here.”

Maher felt that Leguizamo was missing the broader implications of the conversation. He clarified, “But that’s not about the room. It’s about resources, and… countries have to cross borders.” He reflected on how the immigration debate has evolved, noting that Biden’s approach has created further frustrations around the topic.

Interestingly, Maher mentioned a survey that indicated around 200 million people worldwide express a desire to move to the U.S. He questioned why this is the case, remarking on the desperation some feel for a better life. Leguizamo reacted strongly to the idea that resources are limited, asserting that undocumented workers play a vital role in the U.S. economy.

While Maher acknowledged Leguizamo’s points about labor, he emphasized that many Americans are understandably wary of Biden’s handling of border policies. He suggested that while America is indeed a nation built on immigration, there must be an element of order in the process. “It can’t be ‘come all,'” he asserted.

Leguizamo has a history of making provocative statements on various issues, including calls for diversity in awards and social commentary surrounding politics and national holidays. His comments often spark debate, illustrating the deep divides in opinions on immigration and other social topics.
