Suki Waterhouse Discusses Health Setback Due to Tight Pants

The show must go on for Suki Waterhouse. The British actress and musician disclosed to her 166,000 followers that she has been recovering from hernias, a condition she attributes to wearing pants that were perhaps too tight.

“Have you ever thought about wearing tight pants six months ago? It caused a hernia,” she humorously tweeted.

Waterhouse, engaged to Robert Pattinson, shared two photos. One showed her in snug green pants while performing, and the other depicted her lying in a hospital bed dressed in a gown.

Preparing for a Role

Waterhouse mentioned she’s allowing her body hair to grow for a role as a member of the Manson group. This adds an interesting layer to her transformation for the character.

Hernias happen when tissue, usually parts of the intestine, pushes through weak areas of abdominal muscles. This can lead to swelling and pain, especially when bending, coughing, or lifting.

Fans quickly weighed in on her social media revelation. Comments ranged from concern, with one follower asking, “How does this happen?” to well wishes like, “I hope you feel better, take care of yourself.”

A representative for Waterhouse has not yet commented on the situation.

Other Artists with Similar Experiences

Interestingly, Waterhouse is not alone in facing such health issues. In 2018, Skid Row’s frontman, Sebastian Bach, mentioned developing a hernia after an intense performance where he shouted “gut out.” He shared that recovery wasn’t easy, and he felt nervous about it impacting his singing.

“I was laid out for a while after that… and had to have surgery. But you can’t really do much for about six weeks,” he explained. It’s a reminder that performers often push their bodies to the limit.

Waterhouse is gearing up for her Sparklemuffin tour in the UK next month and plans to return to the US for additional shows later this year. She and Pattinson got engaged in December 2023 and recently welcomed their daughter in March 2024.
