Rosie O’Donnell Responds to Trump’s Citizenship Threat

Rosie O’Donnell expressed that she wasn’t shocked by President Trump’s threat to revoke her U.S. citizenship, suggesting she has faced “twenty years of abuse” from her adversaries.

The former talk show host took to social media to describe the president’s comments as “absurd,” following a controversial post where Trump referred to her as a “threat to humanity.”

“I’m safe here in Ireland. I’m out of reach of Tangerine Mussolini,” she remarked, mentioning her ongoing feud with Trump in a nearly 10-minute TikTok video.

O’Donnell, 63, moved to the outskirts of Dublin in January, with her non-binary 12-year-old in tow. This decision followed Trump’s victory over Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election.

Describing the move as necessary, she stated that she “can’t take away the pain” of what Trump plans or has already enacted.

Despite this, she seemed unfazed by Trump’s threats. “You can’t just take someone’s citizenship away. They have to give it up according to the Constitution, so I’m not too worried,” she said.

However, she expressed concern about the Supreme Court granting the president extensive power, remarking, “He thinks he’s a king, which we definitely don’t have in America.” Under current regulations, U.S. citizens can’t lose their nationality just by obtaining citizenship in another country.

Recently, Trump reignited discussions regarding O’Donnell’s citizenship, stating he was “considering” revoking it because she did not represent the interests of the country well. “She is a threat to humanity,” he claimed, adding that those who support her should remain in Ireland.

O’Donnell quickly countered Trump’s remarks in an Instagram post, labeling him a “dangerous old soulless man” who craves “loyalty,” and even drawing parallels to Jeffrey Epstein.

It remains unclear what legal basis Trump has for his claims regarding her citizenship. O’Donnell found his comments “flattering,” highlighting the absurdity of the situation that has persisted since their infamous feud began in 2006.

In her latest statement, she firmly declared she would never relinquish her citizenship. “I would never give up my American citizenship,” she asserted, adding that while she is content to have Irish citizenship, she will always retain her American identity.
