New details reveal that “Beverly Hills, 90210” star David Gale’s death was drug-related. The actor passed away last month at the age of 58.
According to Gail’s publicist, Gail died from the following illness: anoxic ischemic encephalopathyBrain damage caused by lack of blood after resuscitation from cardiopulmonary arrest due to drug intoxication with substances such as amphetamines, cocaine, ethanol, and fentanyl.
Gail’s mother, Mary Painter, expressed her heartbreaking loss in a statement. to people.
“It breaks my heart to know that my son died this way,” Painter said. “David had numerous surgeries on his hands and wrists many years ago and he became dependent on medication.”
“For almost 10 years, he lived with pain so severe that he was unable to work, and only complete disability, physical therapy and pain medication provided relief,” she continued. “He had a hard time coming off medications, but then he turned to more Eastern pain management such as acupuncture and natural medicine.”
“I can only assume that my son’s prior opioid addiction contributed to his self-medication from uncontrolled sources,” Painter said, adding that her son’s death serves as a warning to the dangers of drug addiction and the fentanyl epidemic. He added that he hopes that will be the case.
“David’s death shines a light on the countless innocent victims of pharmaceutical addiction and the fentanyl epidemic that has claimed so many of our sons and daughters,” she continued. “Please keep David and others struggling with pain and addiction in your thoughts and prayers.”
Last month, a representative for the actor told The Post that Gail’s cause of death was: Complications from sudden cardiac arrest.
The “Port Charles” alum was found unresponsive by paramedics who administered CPR and defibrillation.
The “Growing Pain” star was then placed on life support, but was pronounced dead a few days later on January 16th.
Gail’s sister Katie announced publicly that her brother had died Via Instagram at the time.
“There was hardly a day in my life when you were not by my side. Always my wingman, my best friend, ready to face anything and anyone with me.” she wrote alongside a photo of the siblings hugging each other.
“Bears will never be the same, but I hold you tight in my heart every day, you are a gorgeous, loving, amazing and fierce human being, and I will miss you every second of every day, forever. There will never be another bear,” she added.
Painter also released a statement thanking Gail’s fans for their “outpouring of love.”
“We are so touched by the outpouring of love from David’s loyal fans and colleagues,” Painter said in a statement at the time. “We are grateful for all the support we have received during this extremely difficult time.”
Some of Gail’s “90210” co-stars paid a tribute To his late friends, including Shannen Doherty, who played his on-screen fiancée Brenda Walsh on the Fox show.
Doherty, 52, posted a photo of himself, who plays Brenda, and Gail, who plays Stuart Carson, dancing together on set. She didn’t have a caption.
Carson, who joined the show in season 4, appeared in eight episodes before his characters’ engagement ended due to his drug dealing history.
Gail is survived by her sons Gasier, Katie, and her mother.
