California Gov. Gavin Newsom said Friday that Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley has become one of the Democrats’ “better surrogates” in 2024.
Haley, Donald Trump’s last leading Republican rival, attacked the former president throughout the campaign, claiming the 77-year-old was too old to serve in the next White House and criticizing Trump’s “disruption.” ” threatens the future administration. Newsom noted that his assessment of Haley’s potential is not “negative.”
“I respect the former governor much more than I respect former President Donald Trump,” he explained. “But like I said, I go out and wish her the best in the context of our equal advocacy against Donald Trump.”
Haley’s campaign welcomes support from Democrats in hopes of defeating President Trump.
