Gramercy Park Studio Sold for $900,000
A recently updated listing by StreetEasy shows that an unusual studio, the one from Carrie Bradshaw’s fictional Gramercy Park townhouse, has sold for $900,000.
This garden-level studio offers a view of Manhattan’s exclusive Gramercy Park, a location accessible only to a select few residents. Those lucky enough to call 3 Gramercy Park West home can enjoy the prestige of living in the same building as HBO’s fictional columnist.
The buzz surrounding the third season of “Sex and the City” kicked off in late May, featuring Sarah Jessica Parker’s character navigating her new Greek revival-style apartment.
This particular studio, nestled in a redbrick building, boasts the prewar charm expected of such a coveted address. But here’s the catch: there’s no kitchen.
Carrie’s fictional apartment in the series is far more spacious than this real-life studio, which also lacks a kitchen — something both the character and the unit share. She famously joked about using her oven for storage, and this studio has taken that concept to a new level.
Even without a kitchen, the studio does have some appealing elements: high ceilings, neat pocket shutters, wide plank flooring, and four closets. The new owner will need to add a kitchen, although the bathroom is ready to go.
Emily Baer, a broker representing the seller, explained that the $900,000 price reflects the missing amenities. City records indicate the sellers, Kathryn and Milos Brajovic, bought the unit in early 2020 for the same amount.
Milos co-founded Studio Lantern Entertainment, which came about after the 2018 acquisition of the Weinstein Company, known for films like “Django Unchained.”
Initially, the sellers had plans to combine the studio with another unit but changed their approach. They opted to sell the studio instead, even after making kitchen renovations.
While the kitchen could either be restored by the new owner or left out, Baer noted that the location justifies the price. “It’s a very good deal for a studio without a kitchen,” she said.
The studio’s classic features and recent upgrades make it appealing, as noted by Baer, who remarked that properties like this are rare and special. The identity of the buyer remains undisclosed but Baer confirmed the sale was finalized last week.
Interest in the unit was high, with many recalling the phrase, “And just like that,” during conversations about it. Although it doesn’t carry the same dramatic flair as Carrie’s fictional apartment, it’s still a desirable location.
The 179-year-old building offers a serene environment, with minimal foot traffic, making it a popular spot for photos — though it doesn’t attract large crowds.
While the studio may lack a kitchen, new owners will have ample closet space for their belongings, including those iconic Manolo shoes.
