Illinois residents with certain Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance plans will soon bring about a major change in their coverage as some plans from Advocate’s Health Group become unacceptable.
According to the insurance giant, Advocate’s physician partner has not been part of Blue Cross Blue Shield’s HMO Illinois network since July 1, 2025.
A spokesman for Advocate Health Care told NBC Chicago that “certain providers will no longer be involved in the BCBS HMO Illinois Plan,” but Health System “will work closely with Blue Cross and continue to stay in a network of various other Blue Plans.”
The change will not affect the hospital, the spokesman said.
“We are always committed to acting in our patients’ best interests and ensuring that patients undergoing treatment maintain access to high quality, coordinated care,” the spokesman said.
Blue Cross said supporters will remain in the Blue Advantage HMO network, a more affordable healthcare plan.
The next group is one of the supporter partners to leave the BCBS HMO network this summer, according to the company.
