A Bullet Couldn’t Stop Trump, a Virus Just Stopped Biden

Shortly after President Joe Biden announced he had COVID-19 on Wednesday, CNN political commentator Van Jones compared Biden’s illness to the situation former President Donald Trump faced following the assassination attempt.

Jones told his colleagues that while a bullet wouldn’t stop the 45th president, a virus could stop his successor.

He also pointed to the seeming unity within the Republican Party and its growing “division” as Democrats struggle with whether to keep Biden on their shortlist or replace him with someone else.

“There are a lot of people who want Biden to stay,” Jones said. “I want to continue to point out that there is still grassroots love for Joe Biden. Not everyone is in favor. But today is a terrible day. If you take a step back and look at this situation, you see strengths and weaknesses. Bullets don’t stop Trump. The virus stopped Biden.”

“The candidates of this party are being flattered,” he continued. “Biden is being outdone by his own party. Democrats are splitting and Republicans are uniting. That’s what’s happening right now. And at some point, this party has to face up to that reality.”
