Census-only census
Reflecting on my two decades at the Census, I was surprised to discover that citizenship isn’t a requirement for filling out the form (“Dem Census Incentive”, Miranda Devine, August 19).
I believe the census should be modified to count only U.S. citizens, excluding non-citizens. This change would help ensure that only U.S. citizens participate in our government.

It’s Murphy’s fault
The Post’s editorial from August 17, titled Dem’s Electric Disaster, accurately criticizes the “Democrats’ bungled energy policy” leading to “explosive utility bills.” Yet, it seems unfair to blame “GOP Gov. Chris Christie for the Garden State’s insanity.”
During our administration, New Jersey managed to expand its natural gas infrastructure, achieving energy self-sufficiency for the first time in 2016.
After years of legal disputes to halt the Penneast pipeline—backed by our administration—Governor Phil Murphy’s overemphasis on climate initiatives has stifled new energy production, plunging New Jersey into a crisis.
The Oyster Creek nuclear plant, the second oldest in the country, was also impacted. Excelon, the owner, had committed to keeping it operational until 2019. Plans to replace that energy depended on the Penneast Pipeline and further natural gas developments.
The Murphy administration took a completely different approach, focusing solely on clean energy and emissions targets without considering consumer costs or the stability of our energy supply.
When we came into office, New Jersey was energy self-sufficient with reasonable rates and dependable service. The actions of the Murphy administration have reversed that progress.

Fakes “feel”
I really appreciated Anthony Watts’ piece on the exaggerated way temperatures are reported nowadays (“real” aggravation of summer sensations”, August 18th).
In the past, weather reports simply shared factual details like temperature, humidity, and wind speed. Now, it seems sensationalized beyond reason. I agree with Watts; it’s high time we return to straightforward reporting.

SATC flop ending
Killsten Fleming’s thoughts on the disappointing conclusion of the “Sex and the City” sequel echo sentiments I’ve seen elsewhere (“Legacy is in Clapper,” August 16th).
What were people realistically expecting? From the start, the show suggested that women use men (since they’ve often been used themselves), but that they could still find happiness.
It seems the takeaway is that women “don’t need men like fish need bicycles,” yet they are meant to complement each other within monogamous marriages. So, it makes sense that Carrie’s journey ends poorly.

Fatal License Folly
Once again, we see the tragic and preventable deaths of three Americans in Florida, connected to a driver who was an illegal alien (“killer” driver being carried from California” August 22).
This individual held a commercial driver’s license from California and Washington, yet struggled to comprehend basic highway signs, a scenario that seems to repeat itself without any lessons learned.
