CNN’s Double Standard on White House Renovations

It’s amusing, or perhaps frustrating, to note that CNN—a network often labeled as far-left—has stumbled into a glaring double standard. President Trump’s decision to use private donations, including his own, for White House renovations is portrayed as some sort of national disaster. How do we, as a nation, handle this crisis?

But, oh, when former President Obama oversaw a more extensive renovation? CNN acted like it was a joyful field trip, treating the renovation with utmost reverence.

I can’t help but chuckle at the “Destruction of the White House” narrative; it fascinates me more than a good horror movie.

But why?

Well, as I’ve mentioned before, this saga reveals just how demoralized opponents on the left have become, especially in light of President Trump’s series of successes. Their arsenal seems to have dwindled to this over-the-top claim that Orange Man is “destroying” the White House.

It’s clear to most that this is just a construction project.

In the end, we all know the White House will be enjoying a long-awaited facelift, though it’s unlikely Trump will see it completed during his presidency.

And let’s be honest: the $250 million to $300 million project won’t be a burden on taxpayers. Trump and private donors are footing the bill.

This renovation is essentially a gift to the American people, yet CNN struggles to report on Trump’s actions fairly. It seems their attempts to paint him as a villain—failure after failure—have led them to resort to this blatant whining. It’s kind of sad when you think about it.

If I were less annoyed by them, maybe I would feel a bit sorry for their predicament.

The question remains: why the difference in treatment?

Well, back in 2010, Obama was in the Oval Office.

It’s almost as if the Democratic Party and mainstream media have transformed into those folks who, despite losing an argument terribly, can’t help but keep talking—like some disgruntled neighbor hurling insults from their porch. Oh yeah? Your hairstyle is awful! And then storms back inside while everyone else just laughs.

With so much happening globally and domestically, CNN, seemingly obsessed with Trump’s success, has chosen to focus on their own shortcomings.

Just last week, CNN reported a prime-time viewership of just 469,000—quite disheartening. And maybe this kind of disarray is precisely why.

Honestly, I find this whole fiasco quite entertaining.
