Actress Jamie Lee Curtis expressed her sorrow over the assassination of conservative figure Charlie Kirk, despite her disagreements with him on many issues.
During her appearance on Mark Maron’s podcast, released Monday but recorded the previous Friday, Curtis became emotional while discussing the topic.
“I disagreed with almost everything he stood for, yet I see him as a man of faith. Although his views are, frankly, abhorrent to me, he was a father, a husband, and someone who believed deeply,” she shared.
Curtis drew a parallel between the disturbing video of Kirk’s murder going viral and the recurrent imagery of the September 11 attacks.
“I know there’s a video of his assassination, and I’m aware of who has seen it,” she remarked. “Yesterday, we witnessed those towers collapsing. Today, society is inundated with these violent images. We don’t fully grasp the lasting impact of seeing such tragedies replayed repeatedly.”
Maron agreed, noting that Americans are inundated with violence.
“We are disturbed and somewhat paralyzed by these images. But their presence raises questions—what does it really do to us? I mean, I don’t want to see footage of someone being shot,” Curtis added.
Charlie Kirk, who was 31, was shot while speaking at a Turning Point USA event at Utah Valley University last Wednesday. He leaves behind a wife and two children.
