Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively are navigating a challenging period, particularly due to Lively’s ongoing legal issues with Justin Baldoni, according to friends. British comedian Humphrey Kerr, who co-manages Reynolds’ football team, noted that while they’ve been dealing with these stressors for about 18 months, things remain complicated. He shared these thoughts in an interview with the Telegraph this past November 13.
“The public’s interest fluctuates,” he remarked about the courtroom drama surrounding the film “It Ends With Us.” He added, “But there’s still a lot happening behind the scenes.”
Kerr mentioned they appreciate spending time in Wrexham, as it allows them to keep a lower profile. “I think what they like is that, in Wrexham, no one really focuses on their celebrity status,” he said. The local community is more interested in how the team’s performance will shape, perhaps, whether a new center-back will be signed, providing them a sort of break from their usual lives.
He expressed sympathy for the couple, observing that their current reality is quite demanding. “I feel sorry for them,” he added. Kerr, who has featured in the FX series “Welcome to Wrexham,” reiterated the point that being there is a sort of refuge for them.
The legal battles began last December, when Lively accused Baldoni, the director of “It Ends With Us,” of sexual harassment and retaliation. In her lawsuit, she also mentioned issues like breach of contract, emotional distress, invasion of privacy, and loss of income.
It has been noted that Baldoni has denied any wrongdoing, having countered Lively’s claims with a $400 million lawsuit against both her and Reynolds, alleging defamation and civil extortion. Interestingly, a judge dismissed Baldoni’s counterclaim earlier this June.
As for Lively’s lawsuit, it’s set to go to trial in March 2026. Earlier this month, Baldoni brought light to a difficult encounter with Reynolds, describing it as “traumatic.” He recalled, “Ryan was talking to me and scolding me like a 5-year-old,” in a message regarding an incident he claimed happened in January 2024. This exchange highlighted his emotional state during that time, expressing feelings of numbness, something he hadn’t experienced in a long while.
