A.J. Brown irked by Eagles passing game after slim win over Panthers

Star Eagles receiver AJ Brown summed up what Philadelphia's offense needs to work on in one word Sunday after a close 3-for-10 win over the Panthers.

“Pass,” the three-time Pro Bowler told reporters after making four receptions for a total of 43 yards in the 22-16 win. That was his only four targets of the game.

The Eagles are currently on a nine-game winning streak, but have relied heavily on their run game this season with the splashy acquisition of star running back Saquon Barkley in free agency. He added 124 yards on the ground Sunday, bringing his team total to 209 yards.

Quarterback Jalen Hurts, meanwhile, completed 14 of 21 passes for 108 yards.

Brown, 27, said Sunday that success in the air requires unity.

He said the wideouts “were talking about this week in particular,” and are “on the same page,” according to a report by ESPN.

“I'm thinking the same thing, making sure the signals are right. Just going out there and making it work,” added Brown, who was first targeted in the second quarter.

Brown wasn't the only member of the Eagles' receiving corps to call for a passing game.

“I think we can do better,” wideout DeVonta Smith said. According to CBS Sports. “We can be better in the passing game… We just didn't play up to our standards.”

Hurts, who averaged a season-low 5.1 yards per attempt Sunday, also took issue with the execution of the passing game, saying it starts with himself.

“I think [the Panthers] You did a good job. I think we did a bad job,” the 26-year-old quarterback said. “It starts with how I execute. At the end of the day, you and I both crave better synchronization, a more complementary style of ball in some ways.”

Despite some critical comments about certain areas of play, it was actually a sunny day in Philadelphia and they qualified for the playoffs for the fourth straight season.

The Eagles (11-2) will look for their 10th straight win when they host the Steelers (10-3) next Sunday.
